What is psychtoons™?
Psychtoons was created to bring awareness to the underlying psychology behind prominent cartoon characters. Using the ideologies of psychoanalysis, behaviorism, clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, and developmental psychology. Every cartoon character has distinct behaviors, quirks, and attitudes that can be translated through psychological lenses. Since cartoons are made solely for the entertainment of young children and adolescents, these psychological discoveries are subject to much contention. Does Piglet from Winnie the Pooh really have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or is he just nervous by nature? What about Daphne from Scooby-Doo: is she a perpetual damsel in distress or could her vulnerable demeanor be attributed to something more serious like Dependent Personality Disorder? Regardless of debate, the evidence is overwhelming. Each of the cartoon characters analyzed on this site exhibit numerous symptoms of the disorder they are respectively diagnosed with. Discover the hidden psychology behind your favorite cartoon characters; but do it at your own risk of ruining your childhood. Prepare to be psyched out!
